Movie: Sailor Moon R
English Name: The Promise of the Rose
Description on the back:
A meteor is on a collision course with the Earth, but naturally, Usagi is oblivious to the approaching danger! Usagi is looking at flowers and enjoying the day with her friends, when a childhood friend of Mamoru shows up. Fiore wants to be Mamoru's exclusive friend, and to eliminate anyone that has false intentions, but unfortunately for everyone, he feels the entire Earth possesses false intentions! Can Sailor Moon save her loved ones and the Earth from the evil alien, Kisenian?
My thoughts:
Out of all three Sailor Moon movies, this one is my favorite. Great animation and plotline make this a must have for Sailor Moon fans. It is rated 13 and up for brief nudity (transformation scenes) and a brief non-descriptive conversation about homosexuality. Fiore seems to be straight from the same planet as Ail and Ann and I'm absolutely convinced that his feelings for Mamoru were more than merely friendly... (O.o) Anyways, the plotline on the box failed to mention the alien Kisenian's intentions. Kisenian was an alien life form in the form of a flower who waited for a being with a vulnerable heart to come along and pick her (remember, she's a flower). That's exactly what Fiore unknowingly did, with the intentions of bringing it back to Earth to give to Mamoru who was his childhood friend. Kisenian brainwashed Fiore into thinking that he had to eliminate everyone on earth with false intentions and ended up possessing him to kill Sailor Moon and take over the earth on the behalf of Kisenian. In the end, all turns out well of course, and Fiore is rescued and Kisenian destroyed. The great battle music, Moon Revenge, alone makes this a great movie to buy, and I highly recommend this to every Sailor Moon or shoujo fan!
